The Block Australia 2022’s Omar Slaimankhel and Oz Malik have slammed naysayers who accused them of running a “dummy bidder”.

ICYMI: Omar and Oz’s record-breaking win not only came with a profit of $1,586,666.66 but a sh*t-ton of rumours that they’d “rigged” the auction by enlisting a mate, Adrian Portelli, to make illegitimate bids.

“I feel like it happens in this country a lot. You do so well, and the next day you’re trying to justify why you won,” Omar told A Current Affair on November 9.

“It’s unfortunate because we do deserve it, and we did so well.”

Adrian Portelli’s Scathing Instagram Post Denied Any Wrongdoing

Both Blockheads and Adrian have since denied any wrongdoing, with the 32-year-old entrepreneur posting a big “f*ck you” to those doubting him.

On November 7, after So Dramatic! put the allegations of unscrupulous bidding to Adrian, he did not respond directly, but he did post a statement on his Instagram story moments later.

“FOR EVERYONE QUESTIONING THE LEGITAMACY [sic] OF THE AUCTION, I WAS A GENUINE BUYER WITH EVERY INTENTION TO PURCHASE THAT PROPERTY.” he penned. “NOBODY IS TO BLAME FOR WHAT HAPPENED IT’S AN AUCTION.

“BELIEVE IT OR NOT, BUT IF YOU’VE GOT TWO PEOPLE THAT GENUINELY WANT THE PROPERTY, A BIDDING WAR WILL COMMENCE. [sic]”

A Buying Advocate Has Lashed Out at the “Ridiculous Money” Spent on Omar and Oz’s Property

Advantage Property Consulting director Frank Valentic – who has bought eight Block homes on behalf of his clients throughout the series — said that buyer Danny Wallis paid a “ridiculous” amount of money for the Gisborne home.

“Danny paid ridiculous money. For someone to pay $1.7 million above the reserve, they know they paid above and beyond,” the buyer told realestate.com.au.

According to the agent, he had shown more than 100 potential buyers through all of the properties and estimated the value to actually be “in the high threes, rather than at the $4 million – $4.5 million the show and agents are saying”.
