The Traitors Australia 2022 may be Rodger Corser’s reality TV debut; however, he is a familiar face to millions of Aussies.
The 49-year-old actor has successfully launched himself into Australian television history with his impressive acting resume, including roles in Home and Away. Glitch, McLeod’s Daughters, Underbelly, Spirited, Puberty Blues AND Doctor, Doctor (just to name a few).
Roger has had an extensive theatre portfolio, evident from the moment he introduces himself as the host of The Traitors Australia‘s inaugural season.
Why Is Rodger Corser Hosting the Reality TV Show The Traitors Australia?
It’s been 24 years since the TV vet made his acting debut in the Australian production of Rent in 1998, so many long-time fans were surprised to see him step into a reality TV hosting role.
But ever a fan of “whodunnit” classics like Clue, Knives Out and Eyes Wide Shut, Rodger couldn’t go past The Traitors Australia‘s murder-mystery theme.
He even created a mysterious persona for himself for the gig, with Rodger admitting he still wanted to step into playing a “character”, despite the “self” credit on his extensive IMDB profile.
“It’s sort of half me and half this character we have… and he gets weirder and whackier,” Rodger told 10Play.
He revealed more of the host’s backstory to Glam Adelaide, explaining that the mystery gentleman owns the hotel where the 24 Traitors and Faithful contestants are trapped.
“When he starts to introduce a challenge, he references back to his family lineage, family history, and it’s all just ridiculous stuff… we just had a great time building this guy’s back story as we went,” he said.
Actor, narrator, producer, host, model and practically a scriptwriter — is there anything this man can’t do?
Roger is married to Renae Berry and has four children Zipporah, Budd, Cilla and Dustin.
