Married at First Sight Australia 2020‘s Amanda Micallef has slammed a Melbourne venue for having a “female and non-binary” bathroom.

“Non-binary” is a term that describes someone who does not identify as either male or female, and they may also use the pronouns “they/them”.

For years, Trans activists have been pushing for venues to include non-binary and gender-neutral bathrooms; however, it continues to be a controversial issue.

Taking to her Instagram Story, Amanda — who made history as one-half of MAFS‘ first same-sex couple — criticised the business’ decision to include non-binary bathrooms.

“How do we feel about a man who considers himself non-binary walking into a female toilet?” she questioned, adding that she thinks it’s a “poor move for business”.

“I mean, that’s how I’m reading this sign?”

The 37-year-old continued: “Might as well just do gender-neutral toilets and really scare away a lot of people in a child-friendly business.”

This is not the first time Amanda has been observed expressing controversial opinions.

In 2020, the TV bride shared an Instagram Story in which she fostered COVID-19 conspiracy theories.

“I’d rather shoot myself in the face than wear a mask,” she penned. “I REFUSE to strip my identity for a fake agenda. I DO NOT CONSENT.”

In February 2022, Amanda was also charged with distributing intimate images of another person without consent, for which she was facing a maximum penalty of three years in jail.

She was found guilty of the offence in May and received a $1000 fine.
