Former Married at First Sight Australia bride Amanda Micallef has finally faced court over her alleged distribution of “revenge porn”.
In February, So Dramatic! broke the news that Micallef had been charged with circulating intimate photos and videos of an ex-partner on her OnlyFans account without their consent.
As reported exclusively in episode 182 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Micallef has been found guilty and given a $1000 fine. She was facing a maximum penalty of three years in jail.
What Happened Leading Up to Amanda Micallef’s Trial?
Micallef’s guilty verdict comes after the hearing was adjourned twice.
One So Dramatic! source witnessed the 36-year-old front court on March 16 but “She did not have a lawyer and sought Legal Aid representation”.
The MAFS alum also asked for “more time to get legal advice”. Accordingly, she was granted bail at a price of $2,000.
The matter was adjourned until April 19, 2022, at which point a lawyer appeared in court to represent Micallef, who was in Melbourne at the time.
The case was adjourned again until May 3, 2022, before going ahead last week.
What Was Amanda Micallef Charged With Exactly?
The charge — commonly referred to as ‘revenge porn’ — sits under Section 223 of the Criminal Code Act, which states that it is “an offence to distribute intimate images of a person without the person’s permission in a way that could cause the person distress.”
According to the act, “intimate images” is defined as “a moving or still image that depicts: a person engaged in a sexual act, the genital or anal region when is bare or covered only by underwear, the bare breasts of a female, and an image that has been altered to appear to show any of the above.”
While we do not know which images and videos Micallef has been charged with distributing, she has recently been sharing content on her OnlyFans account which were graphic and sexual in nature. The footage involved a number of people including an ex-partner.
So Dramatic! understands that the content has since been removed.
