Love Island Australia host Sophie Monk has all but confirmed that Married at First Sight 2022 larrikin Al Perkins has signed onto the show’s fourth season.

In August, the 26-year-old TV groom was papped in the villa in Mallorca, Spain, chatting up a bunch of bikini-clad beauties.

Then, in episode 211 of the So Dramatic! podcast, a source confirmed that Al was already in the villa looking for love — and a bunch of new mates to do shoeys with.

Now, the beloved host of the hit series has dished some dirt on the cast and yup, she’s dying to tell us that Al is the star of the show.

At Channel Nine’s annual Upfronts event on September 14, Sophie reportedly told guests that they’ve cast a “famous groom”.

“We have high-flying real estate agents, we have a soccer player, we have a model, a dancer and we have a famous groom,” she dished.

However, she was unable to comment further on who the Islanders are.

Adding more fuel to the fire that Al is in the throws of finding love (again), his typically active Instagram page has been verrrrrry quiet, with no posts since August 23.

You may be thinking, “wait, Love Island is broadcast live and typically doesn’t air until late in the year why is Al already MIA online?” We’re glad you asked!

For the first time, the Aussie iteration of Love Island is being filmed ahead of time.

Sources Reveal Why Love Island Australia 2022 Is Being Filmed Ahead of Schedule

In a statement provided to So Dramatic! from the show’s production company, ITV Studios, a spokesperson said the show has already commenced in a “stunning new villa in Mallorca in Spain”.

“We have assembled an amazing cast, and Sophie Monk is back hosting in what is set to be a hot and sizzling season with more secrets from the new Love Island villa to be revealed soon!”

Another source told So Dramatic! that the reason for the early filming of the show was the availability of the Spanish villa.

The OG UK series is also filmed in the popular holiday location.

Love Island Australia returns to Spain for the first time since its inaugural season in 2018.

Season two was filmed in Fiji, while 2021’s season was filmed Down Under in Byron Bay, following COVID restrictions.

The decision to film ahead of time is particularly bizarre, considering audience participation is a valued part of the series.

So, we’ll have to stay tuned to see how the new format will unfold!
