She may be the new host of Farmer Wants a Wife Australia 2023, however, Samantha Armytage has her own blessed love life with her husband and farmer Richard Lavender.
In April 2019, Samantha — who goes by Sam — met the equestrian businessman at 42 after being introduced by a mutual friend in the Southern Highlands.
Upon meeting, sparks flew immediately, with the former breakfast host telling Who Magazine that there was an “immediate connection”.
In a very cute twist of events, the former farmer had no idea his love was a public figure due to the fact he never watched TV.
“Can you watch this show once so you know what I actually do for a living?” the TV personality had joked with her new partner.
Then, in March 2021, Sam took to Instagram to reveal that Richard had proposed.
“What a year…💍❤️👰🏼🎉,” she captioned two gorgeous shots of the pair.
At the time, she showed off the stunning ring while revealing that she was “really, really happy”.
“We’d been picking weeds in the paddock, and he said, ‘darling, do you want to marry me?'” she told her Sunrise co-hosts.
“It was very sweet, very romantic. He’s just a very charming, lovely fellow. He is totally the opposite of the showbiz world and TV.”
Richard even asked her dad, Mac Armytage, for his daughter’s hand in marriage!

In December 2020, Sam and Richard tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the Southern Highlands — echoing their meeting place.
The nuptials were held in front of a select group of immediate family, including Richard’s daughters Sasha and Grace, on his 40-hectare property.
Sam wore a gorgeous Carla Zampatti dress, accessorised by a white ribbon and the bride’s labrador, Banjo, was also included.

After marrying her own “farmer”, Samantha has taken over as the new host of Farmer Wants a Wife and we couldn’t think of anyone better for the role!
Long-time host Natalie Gruzelewski will still appear on the show as a special guest advisor, but Samantha will be “taking more centre stage.”
As a farm girl at heart, Samantha is perfectly qualified to guide the new crop of farmers on their journey to love.
“I love that it’s a genuine show about people looking for love,” Samantha revealed in her official FWAW bio.
“Farmers are very close to my heart – my husband, dad, and brother are from the land. And it’s not always easy to meet someone decent when you live in the bush.”
