Word on the street is that newcomer Melissa Sheppard will take on Married at First Sight Australia 2023. However, she ain’t happy about the label she’s already been given by production!

So Dramatic! exclusively revealed that Melissa — who goes by Mel for short — is a 41-year-old hairdresser who, according to one of her friends, has “always” had her sights set on reality TV.

Now, she’s set to debut on the dating series as she “marries” Sydney marketer Joshua White.

“She has always wanted to go on one of ‘those shows,'” the source told So Dramatic!. “She is super excited to finally have been cast on MAFS after years of trying to get on a reality TV show.”

However, the experience isn’t all it’s cracked up to be for Mel, despite filming having only recently kicked off.

Production insiders have told So Dramatic! that she has been labelled the “curvy bride”, and she isn’t impressed with the descriptor. And no wonder!

Why women can’t just be referred to by their name and not what they do (or don’t) look like is BEYOND us.

What Else Do We Know About Married at First Sight 2023‘s Melissa Sheppard?

The incoming MAFS bride is also a single mother to a young son and is one-half of a set of identical twins! Move over, Kate Laidlaw!

Mel is evidently close with her sister, Samantha, with the gorgeous duo running a hair studio together — which, BTW, has seen The Block‘s Mitch Edwards pass through!

According to the Sydney salon’s website, Melissa is one of the original owners of Tranquillity Hair, which opened in 2006.

Having worked as a creative colourist and cutter for the past 20 years, the mum of one has “brought a creative, friendly attitude” to the business.

The bio continued: “Mel’s decision [sic] to continue Hairdressing part-time as she continues to explore
other adventures outside her hairdressing career.” Other adventures, as in… Married at First Sight?

One of Mel’s clients revealed to So Dramatic! that the hairdresser cancelled all forthcoming appointments in favour of a “last-minute” getaway.

“She has told her clients she has gone away on a last-minute trip and had to cancel her client’s appointments,” they said.

Well, imagine their surprise once they see their hairdresser on TV!

As long as she sticks to cutting hair and not cutting up bridesmaids’ dresses…
