Someone has leaked photos of The Block 2022‘s finished Gisborne houses on Facebook and let’s just say fans aren’t taking kindly to the newly renovated abodes.

The 18th instalment of the hit reno show may have only just started airing, however, the actual builds are wrapping up in their regional Victoria location.

As such, some nosy fans have taken the 45-minute trek out of Melbourne to the construction site and were met with what netizens have only described as “hideous” properties.

Even in the first few episodes, judge Shaynna Blaze was quick to criticise the Blockheads‘ failure to include “country aesthetics”. So, fans were naturally confused AF upon seeing the leaked photos.

As reported by Kidspot, snaps shared in multiple Facebook groups show clunky contemporary extensions tacked onto the original heritage homes.

“I can’t believe how bad these look,” one viewer wrote. Meanwhile, another questioned the point of including the OG houses in the first place.

“Why bother putting little old farmhouses there if you’re just going to dwarf them with hideous and completely unsympathetic extensions.”

Gisborne Locals Slam The Block 2023 Builds for Not Suiting the Environment

Many concerns had by onlookers were that the new build extensions didn’t mesh with the existing homes.

Some said “they look like two different homes stuck together”, while others said the colours were “really ugly”.

“I think it looks really ugly with the dark grey sheds next to the beautiful heritage houses,” a Facebook user said.

One Gisborne local admitted that she “cringed” when she got a glimpse of the “sheds attached to the lovely Queenslanders”.

A neighbour added that residents were ticked off that the extensions “didn’t suit their environment”.

“Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of modern homes in Gisborne… but to get houses relocated and to put the modern extensions as a separate walk through, just doesn’t suit its location on 10 acres of beautiful countryside.”

Shaynna Blaze Slammed Blockheads for Disregarding Country Elements

Given the state of the completed properties, we can’t imagine that the judges were too thrilled about it all.

During the August 14 episode of The Block, Shaynna brutally critiqued Sharon Johal and Ankur Dogra‘s bathroom for its lack of country charm.

“If any house would get me angry, it’s doing this to that beautiful house we’ve walked through,” she said. “This is a grand dame. These are the jewels in the crown.”

The long-time judge went on to explain that it didn’t pay homage to the home’s heritage features.
