They may have joined The Block 2022 two days late, but Rachel and Ryan Carr could be champions thanks to their extensive experience as renovators.

The married couple was convinced they were down on their luck after missing out on a spot on the hit reno show.

However, as exclusively revealed by So Dramatic! in July, Rachel and Ryan’s fortune soon changed when Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull quit The Block, and they received the call up to set.

With three children — Everleigh, five, Mila, three and Tommy, one — the devoted parents had just one day to uproot their lives and make it down to Gisborne, Victoria.

“We really went into chaos mode,” Rachel told 9Now.

The 36-year-olds also left behind their newly formed renovation company, R&R Design Co.

The business kicked off in 2021 after experienced plumber Ryan started renovating bathrooms, with Rachel getting in on the styling action.

“Rachel does a lot of the styling part of it while I do the construction side of things,” Ryan explained. “We were only doing it for five months before The Block, but it was great training for us leading up to the show.”

Styling Isn’t Rachel Carr’s Only Talent

With a keen eye for detail, Rachel also works as a makeup artist in Sydney while juggling motherhood.

Given her glam line of work, the mum of three is no stranger to TV sets and film crews. However, The Block 2022 is her first experience in front of the camera!

Like many contestants who have come before her, Rachel thinks that the renovation challenge is more complex than she could have ever imagined, but the reason why she and Ryan are doing it doesn’t escape her.

Just like their co-stars, the duo are renovating their butts off to give their family a better future.

He May Have Tradie Experience, But Ryan Carr Thinks The Block Kicks the Construction Game Up a Notch

Like his wife, Ryan understands that no amount of renovation know-how can prepare someone for what The Block has to offer.

What’s more, is that the hard-working plumber didn’t realise how “emotional” the process would be — especially being away from his kids for 12 gruelling weeks.

“This whole experience has been very emotional, especially being away from the kids,” he confessed to 9Now.

However, we’re sure with their experience and determination, the blood, sweat and tears will all be worth it for Rachel and Ryan!

Rachel and Ryan Carr Spoiled Their Own Debut on The Block

As reported by So Dramatic!, Rachel previously shared several posts on her private Instagram account about their time on The Block, despite their involvement in the series not being publicly announced yet.

According to a source close to the couple, Rachel and Ryan were called up to appear on The Block on April 18, and the new contenders rushed to the ‘gram to tell their followers of the good news.

They also posted “a photo of themselves holding hands on an aeroplane” on the way to Melbourne.

What’s more, is that they revisited the post once filming wrapped up.

“They re-shared the holding hands post last weekend as they were leaving The Block, as a memory on their IG story and wrote: ‘how it started’,” the source dished.

Rachel also teased their arrival on the show the night before the August 8 episode.

The Block starts tonight!!!!” she wrote.
