Nova’s Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli have revealed that The Block 2023 quitters Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull hung up on them when they contacted them for an interview.
The Tree Change season is yet to air but the pair have already caused waves among Blockheads after ditching the show just days into the competition.
At the time, the influencer and footballer were said to leave to be with Joel’s ailing mother after a fall. However, several sources — including the show’s creator — have dished that they just couldn’t hack it.
In an attempt to get Elle and Joel’s side of the story, Fitzy and Wippa reached out to the duo, but they were met with quite the frosty reception!
Welcoming The Block host Scott Cam onto their show on August 4, the acclaimed radio hosts dished on what went down.
“We rang them yesterday, Scotty we can’t even play the audio because there isn’t anything to play,” Wippa confessed.
Fitzy then said that “Elle picked up the phone and said ‘This is Joel’s phone.’
“And I said, ‘Hi Elle we’re looking for Joel, it’s Fitzy and Wippa here.’ And then Joel comes in and goes ‘Hi, how are you guys?’ And we introduced ourselves again and then bang, he was gone. He hung up. He’s not a fan of [our] show.” Yikes!
Scott’s appearance on Fitzy & Wippa came after the long-time host repeatedly slammed Elle and Joel for walking off the show.
What Has Scott Cam Said About Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull Quitting The Block 2023?
In a new interview with news.com.au, the host said the controversial pair had left with “no explanation”.
“They didn’t give us a reason why they were leaving,” he told the outlet. “They never mentioned anything to us about visiting their sick mother.
“In fact, we flew them to Adelaide before The Block started for a week and put them up in a hotel so they could see [Joel’s mother], and they came back and said everything’s fine.”
The cast and crew were reportedly left stunned after Joel and Elle left, saying they packed up in the middle of the night.
“I still don’t know why they left. They never mentioned their sick mother in the 48 hours before they left, or after they left. The executive producer spoke to them (after they left) and they didn’t mention their sick mother then either.”
However, The Block host has since addressed his controversial comments, stating the frustration comes from the time and money the departure cost production.
