Married at First Sight Australia‘s Michael Brunelli has given another update on fiancée Martha Kalifatidis‘ health after fans suggested the couple were being too “secretive” about her illness.
As the TV groom recently revealed, the beloved pair returned to Australia “a month early” so that Martha could be around her family and feel “more comfortable”, after she contracted a viral infection while they were overseas.
Now, the 31-year-old has confessed that he’s “getting a lot of DMs” about Martha’s wellbeing after he shared a few snippets of their lives on his Instagram Story.
“Just want to reassure everyone she is okay,” he said. “She’s getting better, it’s nothing you need to worry about.
“I’m just showing you kind of what’s going on in our lives while she’s not posting.”
While also sharing a glimpse into what their temporary “normal” is, Michael exposed one fan who thought his efforts weren’t good enough.
Posting a screenshot of the message, he penned: “This made me chuckle”.
The fan’s DM read: “It’s actually annoying how open you guys were and how secretive this entire sickness has been. Unfollowing.”
The Story was accompanied by James Blunt’s hit song, Goodbye My Lover.
“Shoutout to the 99.9% of people understanding some things in life can be kept private,” Michael concluded.
Married at First Sight Australia’s Martha Kalifatidis Breaks Her Social Media Silence
Martha took to her Instagram Story on July 29 to fill in fans, apologising to her followers that she had been “quiet” on social media.
“I’ve been bedridden for a few weeks but I’m finally home and getting the care I need,” the 32-year-old influencer said, promising she would be back “soon”.
Fans became concerned after Martha went MIA on her Instagram, with the last post on her feed from July 11. On July 23, Michael told fans that Martha had contracted a viral infection while they were overseas.
“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has reached out and messaged us asking about Martha,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself holding her hand. “She’s been offline and unwell with a viral infection.”
Adding that being sick has “taken a toll” on Martha, the personal trainer assured fans that “she’s okay and on the mend”.
The fan-favourite pairing became engaged in December 2021. after first appearing on Married at First Sight Australia in 2019.
