Married at First Sight Australia‘s Michael Brunelli has revealed why he and his fiancée Martha Kalifatidis ditched their holiday in Europe a month early.
The beloved reality TV couple returned to Australia “a month early” so that Martha could be around her family and feel “more comfortable”, after she contracted a viral infection while they were overseas.
“Cut our trip short, but that’s life,” Michael wrote. “Was it the ideal way to end our trip? No. But we had an amazing 3 months overseas, experiencing different cultures, relaxing, having fun and seeing friends [sic].”
Michael explained that they were grateful to have those experiences, but “health is the priority above all else”.
“Not all trips go exactly to plan, and that’s just life,” he said. “We aren’t getting caught up in the ‘what ifs’, because it doesn’t serve us.”
Michael went on to “promise” concerned fans that “Martha is going to be OK [sic]”.
Michael went on to thank fans for the “messages of support and well wishes”.

Martha took to her Instagram Story on July 29 to echo Michael’s words, apologising to fans that she had been “quiet” on social media.
“I’ve been bedridden for a few weeks but I’m finally home and getting the care I need,” the 32-year-old influencer said, promising she would be back “soon”.
Fans became concerned after Martha went MIA on her Instagram, with the last post on her feed from July 11. On July 23, Michael told fans that Martha had contracted a viral infection while they were overseas.
“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has reached out and messaged us asking about Martha,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself holding her hand. “She’s been offline and unwell with a viral infection.”
Adding that being sick has “taken a toll” on Martha, the personal trainer assured fans that “she’s okay and on the mend”.
The fan-favourite pairing became engaged in December 2021. after first appearing on Married at First Sight Australia in 2019.
