During the series finale of Beauty and the Geek Australia, fans watched in horror as Anthony Farah was forced to drop 50 metres off the side of a building despite having a fear of heights.

Uncomfortable viewers immediately took to Twitter to share their outrage on August 3, after Anthony repeatedly told the BATG crew and his partner Tegan Burns that the final challenge was “too much”.

Some even pointed out that he appeared to experience a panic attack.

Fans noted that Anthony really showed how far he had come in the competition by knowing his boundaries and saying “no” to a situation he wasn’t comfortable with.

Others felt the extreme challenge didn’t really have any impact on Tegan and Anthony’s chance to win, so many fans felt it was a “traumatising” and pointless exercise, which disregarded Anthony’s consent.

Beauty and the Geek Fans on Twitter Were Torn on Tegan Burns’ Reaction to Anthony Farah’s Biggest Fear

While Tegan and the other Beauty and the Geek contestants were clearly trying their best in the situation, many fans felt telling Anthony to “calm down” or just yelling and cheering for him wasn’t helping the situation.

“We need to show the eliminated couples our strength and our courage,” Tegan said to the camera, as the other eliminated contestants would be voting for the winners.

“Tegan, I’m f*cking freaking out,” Anthony said. “I’m trying not to get angry at you but I literally can’t do this.”

“It’s just too much. I just need to be on the ground,” he said, before moving away from the edge.

“You have to believe in yourself,” Tegan told Anthony, before adding: “All we have to do is slide down a tiny little rope.”

Um, that’s one way to describe a life-saving harness…

Fans recognised that Tegan quickly started to empathise with the Geek facing his biggest fear, but only once she was also dangling over the edge.

Honestly, we’re with Anthony on this one. 18 storeys is a big nope from us! The Geek was a legend though, eventually taking the (metaphorical and physical) leap.
