Get your wine and your critical thinking caps on because The Bridge Australia has a start date and yep, you’re definitely going to be yelling at the TV with suggestions on how to build it better.

Based on a highly successful UK format, The Bridge follows 12 contestants as they work together in the Tasmanian wilderness to craft a 330-metre-long bridge across a waterway.

The aim? Survive challenges, eliminations and build the best goddamn bridge in a bid to win $250,000 in prize money.

Sure, constructing a bridge may not strike you as riveting TV viewing, however, the tagline of the series has us hooked.

“Three hundred and thirty metres. Seventeen days. One winner. Build it together. Cross it alone.”

So, when can you tune in?

Streaming directly to Paramount+, The Bridge Australia is available from Friday, August 19.

What’s more, is that the series has secured the formidable Hugo Weaving to narrate the eerie new reality show, which one insider described to So Dramatic! as “absolutely f*cked”!

How Do You Win The Bridge Australia?

With only their bare hands and basic tools to build the bridge, the contestants will have to put their trust in a lot more than their carpentry skills over the 17 days of competition.

With elements drawn from Survivor and other intense social games, the competitors will need to keep an eye on their teammates while also entrusting them with the decision of a lifetime.

In a tense twist, only one challenger will be chosen to cross the bridge and they must decide whether to keep the cash prize for themself or share it among the group.

In the first trailer released by Paramount+, the decision appears to loom large over the contestants’ heads.

“You’re handing $250,000, are you really going to divvy it up?” one sceptical cast member questions. “Let’s be real.”

Who Is Participating In The Bridge Australia?

So far, no official cast list has been released for The Bridge Australia.

However, we did spot a familiar face among the 12 contenders — popular First Nations author and Brooke Blurton‘s bestie, Allira Potter.

Based on the promo, it looks like Allira is ready for the dra-mah, and same, girl, same!

“I think things are about to get a little bit spicy,” she tells the camera. “Which I’m kinda here for.”

As for the other cast members, if you spot anybody noteworthy — maybe they’re your local Woollies cashier, aunty, uncle, you name it — please slide into the DMs with the tea!
