Influencer Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull have appeared in The Block 2022 trailer, despite sensationally quitting the show after just two days.

The influencer and her ex-AFL playing hubby were reportedly forced to make the difficult decision to pull out of The Block: Tree Change after Joel’s mother suffered a brutal fall.

Despite their early departure, the former contestants still made an impact on the show’s 18th season.

In the first official trailer, host Scott Cam is seen welcoming viewers to “Block country” ahead of the highly anticipated, first-ever regional edition.

However, things quickly take a turn with the long-time host dropping a major bombshell.

“One couple drops their tools and does a runner. Why would you leave after two days?” he questioned producers on camera.

While the long-gone duo weren’t mentioned by name, it’s expected that the drama will unfold at the beginning of the series, in the lead-up to their exit amid the very first challenge.

The Block Host Scott Cam Slams Elle Ferguson and Joel Patfull for Quitting the Show

After news of their exit broke, Scott (and a number of So Dramatic! sources) thinks Elle and Joel just couldn’t hack it on a construction site!

Chatting to TV Tonight at Nine’s post-Logies media brunch, Scott said the couple’s withdrawal from the show is “p*ss-poor”.

“We have a controversy on Day Two of the series,” he explained. “We had a 48-hour challenge to choose the house that you get and they scarpered after 48 hours. It’s something that’s never happened before.”

The 59-year-old went on to say that 45,000 people applied for The Block to win “life-changing money”.

“[Elle and Joel] got on and they just couldn’t handle the pace after 48 hours. Which to me is a bit unAustralian!” Scott confessed, adding: “Have a go!”

While the couple hasn’t officially addressed their departure from the show, Elle did share a cryptic — albeit heartwarming — post after the news broke.

“Wherever you are in the world. Whatever you are doing. family always comes first,” the 36-year-old wrote on her Instagram story.

Scott Cam Reveals That the 2022 Season Is the “Biggest Block Ever” — No, Really!

Admitting that he claims every year of The Block is the biggest year yet, Scott can’t deny the extremity of Tree Change.

“This actually is the biggest Block ever,” he said. “I’ve been bullsh*tting the whole way through about the ‘biggest Block ever.’ And now I’m the boy who cried wolf because it actually is the biggest Block ever!” LOL!

The Channel Nine mainstay said the Gisborne, Victoria site is 70 acres with the five teams renovating 10 acres each.

According to Scott, “it’s been raining for a month… it’s minus seven [degrees] and [he’s] ready to go home”. We don’t blame him!

The beloved show has faced a shortage of tradesmen on-site to complete the builds.

Nine in Six, the construction company behind The Block, recently issued a call out for help on the series.

“We desperately need help completing the current series of The Block, Tree Change. Carpenters, Cladding Crews, Skilled labourers, Trade Assistants,” the company wrote on Instagram.

“Wages, Casual, Subbies we won’t discriminate. Immediate start, 5 Weeks to go Location Gisborne Victoria. Send us a message if you’re keen. [sic].”

Producer Julian Cress also voiced his concern over the looming deadline.

“Am I feeling confident? Not really,” he told the Herald Sun on June 12, describing the situation as a “nail-biter right down to the last day”.
