The Bachelorette Australia 2021‘s Brooke Blurton has revealed she recently had an abortion after the US Supreme Court ruled to overturn Roe V Wade.

The history-making Bachette told her followers of her experience on June 26, just one day after the US lawmakers overturned the landmark case that granted women the right to terminate a pregnancy.

Sharing Abbie Chatfield‘s post about her abortion to her own Instagram Story, Brooke said that women must “come together” in this distressing time.

“Women can come together. We need [to],” she penned. “After going through my own experience of an abortion only very little time ago. I am so lucky (if that’s the word to use) to have choice. [sic].”

The 27-year-old then questioned why “men have a choice over our bodies”.

Expressing her empathy for “those who have been triggered by Roe V Wade”, Brooke told her followers that we “need to be there for [each other] more than ever”.

Brooke also seemed to put her and Abbie’s post-Bachie feud to rest, and commended her fellow alum’s “vulnerability”.

“I’ve always admired Abbie for the topics she speaks on,” she confessed. “Her honesty, particularly around abortion was one that I thought she showed so much strength in. [sic].”

Brooke continued: “Yes the media has [played] into our once was ‘friendship’ but it takes a very strong human to speak up about this and disputes aside. I have always saw past that and admire the vulnerability Abbie has. [sic].”

Tensions between Abbie and Brooke rose to an all-time high after Abbie announced her relationship with Brooke’s third runner-up, Konrad Bien-Stephen, while The Bachelorette was still airing.
