Love Island Australia golden couple Amelia Marni and Josh Moss have called time on their relationship.
The pair, who met on the inaugural Aussie season of the show in 2018, announced their split on Monday via Instagram.
Posting a lengthy statement to her feed, Amelia, 25, said the split was the “most heartbreaking yet respectful breakup”.
“I felt it was necessary to share that Josh and I have decided to split,” she wrote. “After almost four years of being together we decided to go our separate ways.”
Amelia then added that she was unsure whether the news comes “as a shock” (newsflash: it does), due to the couple “[portraying] a happy healthy relationship”.
“It was that for most of the part, but there was also a lot of challenging moments we didn’t share. [sic].”
She concluded the post by reiterating that she and Josh are “on incredible terms” considering the circumstances.
“Of course I love Josh and will miss our crazy special life together but right now this is the best for us both.”
What Did Josh Moss Say About His Split from Amelia Marni?
Josh’s post held a similar sentiment to his ex-girlfriend’s, revealing that after taking “some time to reflect” they decided to part ways.
He also confessed that he “still [does] love Amelia” and she “holds a special place” in his heart.
“The moments we shared together is something I’ll never forget. [sic].” the 29-year-old wrote. “We are on really good terms and both wish nothing but the best for each other.”
A number of their fellow Islanders jumped to the comments to show support for the couple, who were the only remaining pair across the show’s three seasons.
“So sorry to hear guys,” 2019 Love Island victor Anna McEvoy penned.
Meanwhile, Josh and Amelia’s co-star Cassidy McGill left a string of hearts below Josh’s post.
“Sending you both love,” mused 2021 winner and fan-favourite Tina Provis.
The Announcement Comes One Day After Amelia Slammed Jetstar Airways
The breakup announcement came one day after Amelia took to her Instagram Story to slam a Jetstar crew member for “sl*t shaming” her during a flight.
The reality star told her followers that a male flight attendant had told her to “cover up” and that her outfit was “too revealing”.
“We love a sl*t shame moment,” she penned. “A male flight attendant just told me to cover up and my clothing was too revealing. I can’t wear this and it’s inappropriate to wear on Jetstar. NEVER heard of this.”
Amelia then shared a pic of the outfit she had worn for the flight, which was an inoffensive black crop top and a pair of cargo pants.
The Sydneysider then shared screenshots of Jetstar’s clothing policy which read: “Please refrain from wearing any clothing or carrying personal items that display words, images, symbols or slogans that may reasonably be deemed offensive.”
The influencer said this was “literally the only thing” that she could find regarding the company’s clothing,” joking “we love a man abusing his authority”.
