She may have won the very first season of Big Brother Australia, but Reggie Bird is being paid “peanuts” to appear in the 2022 season.
According to a report from New Idea, the 46-year-old is said to be getting only $170 for every day she is in the house. Meaning, that if she makes it through the entire 62 days, she’ll walk away with approximately $10k — which actually, is not a kick in the teeth!
However, if she wins the series — and let’s face it, she is one popular lady — she will also get another $250k on top of that!
The outlet’s source also claimed that Reggie had just two days to decide if she wanted to appear in the new season — and we’re so glad she did, because she is GOLD!
“Her return to the Big Brother house was meant to signal better times. Here’s hoping she wins again!” the source said.
Winning Big Brother Australia 2022 Would Mean a Lot to Reggie
Since her appearance on Big Brother in 2003, Reggie has not only faced many personal health battles (including a stroke in 2017 and degenerative eye disease) but also cares for her second child Lucas, 12, who has cystic fibrosis.
“It’s mentally and physically draining on Lucas so I have to stay strong for him. It’s a constant battle to try to get weight on him so he has to drink supplements and have a diet high in calories and fat,” she told Now to Love recently. “I hope he will live past the 37 years of the expected time.”
Earlier this year, the mum-of-two asked her Instagram followers to sign a petition to get a new cystic fibrosis treatment, for patients 12 years and older, approved under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).
The drug reportedly costs $300,000 per year and the scheme would make it more affordable for patients fitting the eligibility.
