Former Married at First Sight star Liam Cooper has responded to the homophobic videos made by 2022 groom Simon Blackburn.

After appearing in a promo for Married at First Sight 2022 on Monday, Simon was outed as a homophobic and misogynistic TikTok star.

In a series of videos since obtained by So Dramatic!, the father-of-two repeatedly degrades women and calls homosexuality “filth”.

Now, Liam, the show’s first bisexual groom, has told So Dramatic! he was “lost for words” over the videos.

“I’ve had had many people tag me and inbox me in regards to those videos and to be honest, I am lost for words and taken aback,” he said.

Liam also wondered how Simon made it past the show’s casting and psychological evaluation.

“To think that producers hid my video and edited out the fact that the video made about me was homophobic, biphobic and fat shaming and then to see that the show has now casted someone who is homophobic really makes me question a lot.

“It’s 2021 and we are allowing people who are homophobic and think like this on our TV screens?!

“I truly want to know how in god name he made it past the casting and psych testing!”

Liam then added that the content was “heartbreaking” for LGBTQIA Community and offered some words of support.

“What’s really heartbreaking is that there are members from the LGBTQIA Community, and those who are still trying to find their self and they have to see this!

“What I want to remind all the young people out there that might have seen this, PLEASE do not listen! It’s ok to be gay, bi, transgender, lesbian, queer WHOEVER you want to be.

“Just know there is support and people out in the world that love you and accept you 💜❤️🧡💛💚💙.”

Liam Cooper Was The Victim Of Homophobic Slurs During Married at First Sight 2021

When his season of Married at First Sight was wrapping up earlier this year, Liam was the target of a homophobic video made by co-star Jason Engler.

As reported by the So Dramatic! podcast, the footage shows Jason calling Liam a “110 per cent wanker” and continuously says he’s “ugly, fat” and “chubby”.

The MAFS groom also labelled Liam “a full-blown homosexual”.

According to Liam, producers edited out the fact that this video existed. He says he is now “question[ing] a lot” now they have allowed someone with homophobic views onto the show yet again.

“Producers… edited out the fact that the video made about me was homophobic, biphobic and fat-shaming,” Liam told So Dramatic!.

“To see that the show has now [cast] someone who is homophobic really makes me question a lot.”

The 30-year-old added that it’s “heartbreaking” that members of the LGBTQIA+ community are faced with Simon’s degrading videos.

“I want to remind all the young people out there that might have seen this, PLEASE do not listen!” Liam said. “It’s OK to be gay, bi, transgender, lesbian, queer, WHOEVER you want to be.”

“Just know there is support and people out in the world that love you and accept you.”
