Phoebe Burgess appears to have taken another *not so subtle* swipe at ex-husband Sam Burgess after he admitted on SAS Australia 2021 that he “forced things” to work between the pair.
“We were just not meant for each other,” Sam told his fellow recruits during Tuesday night’s episode. “I was trying to force things.
“I wanted a family, I wanted kids. I wanted the dream – the house, I got it, I had it all.”
32-year-old Phoebe took to Instagram not long after the episode aired, seemingly clapping back at her ex’s confession.
“We come in a pack of 3,” she wrote alongside a carousel of photos of herself with the children she shares with the former NRL player. Ouch!
Continuing her musings, Phoebe said she “can’t actually remember” when she last had time to herself.
“For longer than a bathroom break that is… [and] even then it’s a total mission to sneak away.
“We wake up together, we go to sleep together and everything in between’,” she said of her close bond with Poppy, four, and William, two.
During the same episode, Sam also confessed that his mother, Julie, told him his marriage to the journalist-turned-influencer was “never gonna make [him] happy”.
The 32-year-old former South Sydney Rabbitohs star was married to Phoebe for four years before their eventual split in 2019.
Sam Redeeming Himself On SAS Australia:
Tuesday night’s candid moment wasn’t the first stop on Sam’s redemption tour.
During SAS Australia 2021, the disgraced rugby league player has discussed at length the struggles he’s faced over the past 18 months.
Early in the season, Sam told DS Ant Middleton, Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham and Jason ‘Foxy’ Fox that he “lost it all” as a result of his alcoholism and drug addiction.
In February 2021, he was arrested for driving under the influence of cocaine when he failed a roadside drug test.
He even confessed to the previously alleged affair he maintained during his marriage to Phoebe, which his ex-wife also subtly referenced in a comeback on Instagram.
The mother-of-two shared an image of a book on her Story, which was aptly titled, Charmed and Dangerous: A Woman’s Guide To Reclaiming a Healthy Relationship.
