Production insiders have shed light on Brittany Hockley‘s edit on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia 2024 after she slammed it as “disappointing”.

After narrowly missing out on the final three during the 10th season of the jungle competition, Brittany spoke in length to Mamamia about how the show didn’t portray her “quirky and funny side”.

“It’s very disappointing because I don’t know why I got the serious edit, but there’s nothing I can do about that,” she told the outlet.

However, as reported in episode 378 of the So Dramatic! podcast, an I’m a Celebrity insider said the 36-year-old’s edit was “100 per cent accurate”.

“The truth is, she just didn’t bring that much to the jungle and wasn’t very interesting to watch,” one production source told host Megan Pustetto.

“The producers really struggled with her… It was difficult to get anything of substance or entertainment value out of her.”

Adding that “producers didn’t make her boring on purpose”, the source attributed Brittany’s little airtime to her being “boring”.

“And when she was shown, it was usually when talking to other contestants because her storyline and personality just wasn’t as exciting as that of her campmates.”

Producers were ‘disappointed’ with ‘how little’ Brittany Hockley brought to I’m a Celebrity

The insider detailed that producers were “disappointed” with “how little [Brittany] brought to” I’m a Celebrity.

“The producers really expected a lot more from her, and she just didn’t deliver or live up to their expectations,” they revealed. “They were pretty annoyed, given that they paid her one of the biggest paychecks out of the entire cast to be there.

“She was put in there to get great stories out of the cast, given she interviews people for a living, but she didn’t even do that until the last few episodes.”

According to the source, producers “pulled her aside” towards the end of the series and “told her she needed to ask people certain questions as that’s what she was put in there to do”.

“So she went and chatted with Skye [Wheatley] and then Tristan [MacManus], but only because the producers pretty much forced her,” they continued.

“There was a lot more juice that could have been squeezed from the cast, and that was supposed to be Britt’s job, which was clearly communicated to her before going in.”

Insiders weigh in on why Brittany Hockley was ‘resistant’ to interview I’m a Celebrity co-stars

The I’m a Celebrity production insider also weighed in on why Brittany was “resistant” to question her campmates.

Apparently, she “didn’t want to highlight their story and give them more airtime, which could essentially lead to them winning”.

“She wanted the spotlight to be on her, not her shining the spotlight on other people,” they observed.

“She was annoyed when it became clear that they had cast her on the show to essentially be the interviewer… Not just because she has an amazing personality.”

Since the show wrapped, Brittany has reportedly “complained to producers about her edit”.

“She’s not happy that she wasn’t the main star and that she didn’t win or at least make it to the final three,” they said.

“She was really expecting to take home the crown.”

Brittany Hockley had a secret deal as part of her I’m a Celebrity appearance

So Dramatic! recently revealed Denise Drysdale had penned a secret deal to be the first to leave I’m a Celebrity. It’s since been revealed Brittany also had her own contract deal.

“Channel Ten had a pre-arranged agreement with KIIS FM to have one of their talent on the show in exchange for promotion on their radio shows,” the insider said of the radio station that’s home to Brittany’s The Pick Up show.

“Brittany would have probably been one of the first to leave, but she had a secret contract that ensured she would stay until at least the final five.”

They continued: “I think Britt was betting on her huge following and listenership to get behind her. But popularity alone wasn’t enough.”

Given her low impact on the show, producers couldn’t “justify keeping her in there”.

“It would have been obvious it was rigged if they did… Given how popular the likes of Skye, Tristan and Callum [Hole] are and how much viewers have resonated with them and enjoyed watching them.”

Tea about Brittany’s I’m a Celebrity stint comes after an insider dished the winner is “pre-determined”.
