We know the heartbreaking reason why Married at First Sight Australia 2025‘s Dave Hand‘s energy has changed in his relationship with Jamie Marinos.
Despite being the strongest couple all season, fans noticed that Dave looked completely checked out during the March 9 Commitment Ceremony, despite Jamie confessing her love for him.

As revealed in episode 492 of the So Dramatic! podcast, Dave’s vacant mental state was due to his father being sick.
“Dave’s dad was really unwell during filming,” one source told So Dramatic!. “He’d been battling cancer for 4.5 years but went downhill during MAFS.
“That’s why he wasn’t quite himself at the Commitment Ceremony. He was emotionally drained and struggling with his dad being so unwell.”
The source added that Dave’s mood “had nothing to do with Jamie”, as they were in a “really good place”.
