Channel Seven’s highly anticipated reality show Stranded on Honeymoon Island Australia will no longer air in 2024 as planned.

In April 2023, it was revealed that the network had commissioned a season of the steamy dating show, which delivered “record ratings” in Belgium. Not only that, but it was also touted to be the “hottest reality TV format in the world”.

Former The Masked Singer Australia judge Jackie O Henderson was later announced as the narrator of the series, which hyped keen viewers TF up!

Per TV Tonight, Stranded on Honeymoon Island was set to air sometime between October and December.

However, Seven has confirmed to the outlet that the series — which comes from the producers behind Married at First Sight — has been bumped to a 2025 broadcast.

The series’ delay comes after Yahoo Lifestyle reported in June that it had already been postponed because “more money” was “thrown at it” in a bid to battle against MAFS and The Block‘s ratings on Nine.

Insider claims Stranded on Honeymoon Island will NEVER air

One source told PEDESTRIAN.TV that despite rumours of Stranded on Honeymoon Island being moved to 2025, it’s unlikely going to see the light of day.

“Insert the sound of a coconut falling from a tree and landing on a person’s head, that is how good the finished version of the show was,” the insider, who viewed an early cut of the show, said.

“No wonder the network has buried it.”

They alleged that the “couples were badly matched” and that they “all ended up leaving the island single”.

“That was hard to hide considering they all left the show and told everyone they knew the show was horseshit and that nothing interesting happened,” the source added.

“I guess you could hardly pretend you are still married for 14 months just for the magic of TV… viewers aren’t stupid. Why do networks keep treating us like we are!”

Still, a spokesperson for Seven vehemently denied these claims to the outlet, telling PEDESTRIAN.TV that it’s “not the case at all.

Stranded on Honeymoon Island will premiere in 2025 on Channel 7 and 7plus,” the spokesperson shared.

We guess time will only tell!
