Love Island Australia 2022‘s Mitch Eliot has addressed the hate comments he’s received following his breakup with Phoebe Spiller.

Despite being #CoupleGoals, the pair announced their split on July 30, with Phoebe later confessing that Mitch dumped her.

Since they parted ways, Phoebe has been much more vocal about her heartbreak than Mitch, causing trolls to attack him for ending their relationship.

On September 18, Mitch made a statement on his Instagram Story, urging his followers to “be kind”.

“After a few recent TikTok’s that’ve been made, I’ve been flooded with hate comments and DMs,” he started.

“This amount of hate under any circumstance isn’t okay. All because I chose to do the right thing and end a relationship that was obviously not working.”

He then asked the trolls whether they wanted him to stay in a relationship that was making him and Phoebe “unhappy”.

“You guys are reacting like I cheated on the girl, which is far from the truth. The only people who truly know what happened are Phoebe and I, so please stop acting like you know.”

He then claimed his followers were all “advocates for mental health” until the were “hiding behind [their] keyboards”.

“I lost a lot from this breakup too, I’m just not posting about it,” he finished, before urging his followers to “be kind”.
