Love Island Australia 2022‘s Phoebe Spiller and Mitch Eliot have announced their breakup with emotional statements online.
They say getting a tattoo for your bae is the kiss of death in a relationship, and it seems it’s rung true for this fan fave couple.
Yep, just months after Mitch surprised Phoebe with a tattoo of her initials amid the phrase “P.S. I love you”, the duo have sadly called it quits.
The news came by way of Instagram Story (how else?!) on July 29, with Phoebe dropping a lengthy statement first.
“I honestly never thought I’d be writing this… but unfortunately, Mitch and I have separated,” she explained.
“As you can imagine, I have been a wreck and not in a good headspace lately, so I’d really appreciate it if you guys didn’t ask questions or make assumptions.”
Phoebe continued: “As much as I wanted him to be my forever, we ended up wanting different things. Regardless of that, though, I will always love him.”
She concluded the post by thanking those “who have supported [them] from day one”.

In his own statement, Mitch shared that he and Phoebe “decided after two years that [they] would go [their] separate ways”.
“Never thought I’d be one to make a breakup post but I feel like it’s needed so we can focus on getting through this and moving on,” he expressed.
Addressing Phoebe directly, Mitch recalled falling in love with his ex “the day [they] met”.
“From then on, you showed me what it’s like to be so bloody loved. You gave me an amazing two years, and I can’t thank you enough for that. But we need time to grow as our own people,” he wrote.
“I still love you very, very much and will still always be backing you.” Aww!
Phoebe Spiller addresses ‘confusion’ after follow-up Instagram Story
Fans were soon left scratching their heads after Phoebe posted another Instagram Story of the couple with the caption: “Guys wtf, over 100 girls have followed Mitch already, EXCUSE ME, FAKE FKN FOLLOWERS, u girls are NOT LOYAL.”
The post had many wondering if Mitch and Phoebe were joking about their split, which forced the reality TV runner-up to clarify.
“I can’t believe I have to even say this, but there is so much confusion now from my posts,” she wrote to her Story.
“I wish it were a joke, but it’s not. We have broken up.”
The follow-up posts have since been deleted.
Meanwhile, Mitch shared an emotional TikTok video, musing, “You never forget your first love”.
The couple appeared to be crying in the clip, which was set to a sound that said: “If you love somebody, you set them free. If they really love you, they’ll come back.” And our hearts can’t take it!
