The Block 2012‘s Dani Wales opened up about her infertility journey as she celebrated her husband, Dan Reilly, during her pregnancy.

ICYMI: The popular reno show contestants revealed on July 20 that they are preparing to welcome their first child in “late 2024”.

Taking to Instagram on September 1, Dani paid tribute to Dan as a dad-to-be on his first-ever Father’s Day and reflected on the “rollercoaster” of becoming parents.

Alongside a video of when Dani told Dan they were expecting a child, the 39-year-old said it “took [them] three years to get to the point in this clip”.

“The moment I was able to finally tell Dan he was going to be a father to a human that was half me and half him, in addition to our angel-faced pups,” Dani wrote.

“Three rollercoaster years filled with dark nights and many breaking points for each of us with the overwhelming burden of infertility and things not going to plan. I just couldn’t reconcile the ‘planned’ with the ‘actual’. I’ll share more about that another time.”

The Block star also said that Dan — now the show’s Foreman — “showed all the qualities of a father from Day One”.

“Including this day, which was the day I got the call that changed everything. I knew at 8 am, and Dan knew I knew, but I had manifested every minute of this process, and it had to play out how I’d written it,” she recalled.

“Dan was patient and understood that. He’d had the most horrible day of anticipation, but deep down he knew I was coming to Phillip Island with this box to tell him it was our time.

“You can see the relief and pure happiness on his face when I turn around with it.”

She went on to say that the 41-year-old harbours “respect, understanding and patience”.

“Three traits that already make him a great dad!” Dani expressed.

“Happy dad’s day to Dan, my dad, my dad in law, dad figures and also to those longing to be dads, your time is soon. And, of course, sending love to those today who have lost their dads.”
