Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Tahnee Cook has addressed Melinda Willis‘ shock confession they’re no longer friends.
ICYMI: On July 8, Melinda — who struck up a close friendship with Tahnee when they appeared in the 10th season of the marriage experiment together — dropped the bombshell that the pair’s friendship had ended.
The beauty business owner made the surprising admission during an Instagram Q&A when asked by a fan why she’d unfollowed Tahnee.
Melinda responded by sharing a cryptic quote that read: “Remember, you don’t need a certain number of friends, just a number of friends you can be certain of,” the quote read. Ouch.
Tahnee has now addressed Melinda’s post during her own Q&A, in which several followers asked WTF went down between the former besties.
The 29-year-old said she “wasn’t planning to speak” about the fallout. However, she’d seen “a few articles circulating” and “wanted to share [her] thoughts”.
“Honestly, I don’t know what happened,” she wrote. “I noticed a few weeks ago that Mel had unfollowed me, so naturally, I reached out to check in, but I never heard back.
“I was super confused when I saw her Instagram Story, as this was completely out of the blue for me, and I still hadn’t gotten a response from her.”

Tahnee also admitted that she “would’ve preferred a conversation privately” rather than Melinda airing her grievances online.
“I don’t feel this needed to be publicised, especially when one party has been left in the dark,” she wrote.
“One of the more annoying things about being in this position is that someone can very easily use your name, which will then create petty headlines and articles that are completely unnecessary [in my opinion].
“But alas, everyone handles things differently, and I wish her all the best,” Tahnee concluded.

In a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle, Melinda said she no longer wishes to spend her energy on what happened between her and Tahnee.
She also denied that her Instagram Story quote “was cryptic”.
“The question was asked to me via my own platform and I answered it respectfully,” she explained. “It was not cryptic, I often post self-development quotes using my own personal situations to inspire others who may resonate.
“In my eyes the message referred to boundaries and how it’s important to have good friends in your life and to be a good friend in return. To me, a good friend is someone who is genuine, respectful, loyal, kind, and most importantly, someone who you can trust.”
The Feather Sisters mogul added, “the end of this friendship has been a long time coming”.
“And if Tahnee claims she is clueless, then maybe some self-reflection is necessary,” Melinda said. “Personally, I don’t wish to spend any more energy on this.” Eek…
Tahnee has since unfollowed Melinda.
