MasterChef Australia 2024 fans are raging after controversial contestant Josh “Pezza” Perry landed a spot in the final four despite his “basic” dish.
ICYMI: Secure finalist Nat Thaipun watched on as Mimi Wong, Savindri Perera, Pezza, and Harry Butterfield battled it out in an elimination challenge to join her in the final four.
They were tasked with creating a meal using an extreme ingredient and perfectly balancing it in their dish.
Mimi crafted a soft-shell crab dish using bitter gourd, while Pezza made a “deconstructed steak sandwich” with Époisses cheese.
However, fans were left raging after Mimi was sent packing, despite judge Andy Allen dubbing Pezza’s meal “basic”.
What did MasterChef fans say about Pezza’s meal?
Taking to the MasterChefAU Reddit, fans were confused about how Pezza’s meal was deemed better than Mimi’s.
“Get the f*ck out of here.. a steak with two croutons in the top 4???” one viewer penned.
Another added: “I WANT TO TALK TO THE MANAGER.” And dude, same!
“Mimi getting sent home for bread she didn’t present while Pezza has store-bought and has technical flaws IS ROBBERY [sic],” a third user expressed.
Another person wondered, “How can he say it’s a deconstructed steak sandwich when he didn’t bake the baguette?”
Meanwhile, over on X (formerly known as Twitter), a bunch of MasterChef viewers shared memes about the controversial elimination.
“I’ve just tuned in to #MasterChefAU, and it seems Pezza is making a steak and cheese toastie. At TOP 4?” And yep, you would be correct!
Pezza making it through to MasterChef Australia 2024‘s final four comes as fans urge the show to cast Shannon Bennett as a judge in 2025.
