I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia host Julia Morris and 2024 contestant Denise Drysdale have allegedly been feuding for years.
ICYMI: Aussie national treasure-slash-comedian-slash-entertainment superstar Denise recently entered the jungle as part of the show’s landmark 10th season.
While fans were hollering with excitement at her addition, rumour has it Denise and long-time frontwoman Julia might not be too thrilled to be sharing the screen.
A former Channel Nine producer allegedly spilled to Daily Mail Australia that the women have been feuding since they appeared on the network’s In Melbourne Tonight programme from 1996 to 1997.
“It would shock the viewers to know these two ladies had beef back in the day,” the insider told the outlet.
“Julia was starting out in television and Denise felt she wasn’t grateful enough of the advice she was giving.
“It was a personality clash from day one and [host] Frankie J Holden would feel really uncomfortable each week as they tried to out-do each other.”
How did Julia Morris and Denise Drysdale’s alleged feud begin?
According to the source, Denise reportedly felt she could be a “big sister” figure to Julia, who was just starting out in her entertainment career.
“However, Julia was determined to run her own race and the women never kept in touch once the show was axed,” they claimed.
“They are both quite similar. They love to go for the big, over-the-top, loud jokes. Very visual, very silly and something which was more common back in those late-night-show formats.”
The source also claimed that Channel 10 had to enact “some very strategic planning” to have Julia and Denise on I‘m a Celebrity.
The insider went on to allege that Denise’s I’m a Celebrity intro had included a clip from In Melbourne Tonight. However, it ended up being scrapped before it went to air.
Obvs, neither Julia nor Denise have confirmed this piping hot tea, so it’s best to sip it with caution!
