After years off the air, Gladiators Australia has returned to screens. However, it’s been met with resounding critiques of it being “fake”.

Channel 10’s reboot featured a bunch of fit AF athletes (including seasoned reality stars Jett Kenny and Damien Rider) taking members of the public in a series of epic challenges that pushed them to their limits.

The show first appeared to feature a live studio audience who supported the contestants and Gladiators by cheering and screaming.

It wasn’t long before some viewers became suss, with several taking to social media to allege that the audience’s noises heard were “faked” after the crowd failed to be shown for the remainder of the episode.

“There’s no people in the crowd. Where did those cheers come from?” one fan wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

“I wish they wouldn’t try and pretend there’s an audience but considering how cheap the budget for this would have been this is a great revival so far,” another wrote.

A third penned: “Have they added in fake crowd noises?!… So bad!”.

Gladiators debuted to 395,000 metro viewers, ranking as the eighth-highest-ranking show of the night.

In addition, the 10Play stream and regional viewers saw the show average 589,000 national viewers.
