The Bachelor Australia 2015‘s Sam Wood issued a denial after allegedly being busted using his phone while driving.

Per news.com.au, Sam was pulled over by officers during a six-hour safety crackdown titled ‘Operation Lookout’ on Melbourne’s Chapel Street on December 18.

He was one of 20 individuals fined in the sting for unregistered and inattentive drivers.

However, when he was pulled over, Sam insisted he wasn’t using his phone illegally.

“No, I wasn’t,” he told 9News. “I’ve got nothing to say. I was not on my phone, I was on my hands-free.”

The Bachelor star was fined $577 and slapped with four demerit points.

“People are addicted to their phones,” Sargeant Bill Woolmore said.

“Some people just think they’ll get away with it. (But) we catch them and catch them on multiple occasions.”

Operation Lookout will persist through the summer months.

On December 18, police also caught seven people not wearing a seatbelt and 12 cyclists riding without a helmet.
