Tributes have flooded in for X Factor Australia 2011 star Johnny Ruffo, who has died from brain cancer at 35 years old.

The announcement was made on the singer’s Instagram page on November 10, with a post that described Johnny as “cheeky” and “charming”.

“It is with a heavy heart that today we had to farewell our beloved Johnny,” it read.

“He battled all the way to the end and fought as hard as he could. Such a beautiful soul with so much more to give.”

The post concluded: “We all love you Johnny and will remember you for all the joy you brought to our lives.

It was also revealed that Johnny “went peacefully”, surrounded by his long-term partner Tahnee Sims and his family.

Countless friends, family, co-stars and fans have since paid tribute to Johnny following his death.

His Home and Away co-star, Georgie Parker said Johnny was “truly one in a million”.

“Funny, bright and such a hard worker,” she wrote underneath the announcement of his passing.

“It’s ridiculously cruel that he’s no longer here. Rest up now Johnny.”

Meanwhile, Mel B, who was a judge on Johnny’s season of X Factor, said her “heart just broke” upon learning the news.

Carrie Bickmore, who interviewed Johnny for The Project in 2022, shared an emotional tribute to the singer on her 2Day FM radio show on November 10.

“I was fortunate enough to get to know Johnny over the years and I really wanted to pay tribute to his incredible life,” she said.

“Johnny brought joy to many. Even as he faced his own battles, Johnny’s spirit never waned. His courage in the face of a terminal brain cancer diagnosis inspired us all. And it was the love for his family that kept his light burning bright.”

The Take It Home hitmaker was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017, then for a second time in 2020.

Following his second diagnosis, Johnny was extremely candid about his fears surrounding his condition, namely about leaving Tahnee.
