Married at First Sight Australia 2023 faves Melinda Willis and Layton Mills have announced their shock split and we’re not crying, you are!
A year after the power couple met in the marriage experiment, Melinda took to her Instagram Story to reveal the sad news.
“We wanted to keep this private for the time being but we have a lot of supporters who are invested in the relationship and owe it to you to be transparent,” Melinda started.
“After a lot of thought and consideration we had sadly decided to both take time apart. We still care very deeply for each other and this doesn’t mean our lives can’t come back together, but as of now, we think this decision is for the best.”
The 32-year-old went on to thank their fans for their support throughout their relationship.
“It means the world to us,” she wrote. “We hope you can understand and ask for your kindness and respect during this time.”
Layton shared the same post on his own Instagram Story.
In July, Melinda confessed that her bae was yet to say “I love you” to her despite being together for 10 months.
However, she recently revealed on Yvie Jones‘ Two Girls, One Pod podcast that Layton eventually said the three little words, although it was “in a love letter”.
She then agreed with Yvie that he found it “hard” to express his love.
“Really, really hard,” she said. “I wasn’t [accepting of that] at first, I think he was just always fearful of commitment and a forever thing.”
