SAS Australia 2023’s Jason Akermanis might’ve been a whiz on the field back in his day, but will the former AFL star be able to score in Base Camp?
From the Brisbane Lions to the Western Bulldogs, the athlete cemented himself as an icon in the footy world.
The 46-year-old is also quite the competitor. He’s won three AFL premiership awards, two Lions Best & Fairest awards and a Brownlow Medal. And that’s only scratching the surface!
So who knows? He may even become the king of Base Camp too!
What does SAS Australia’s Jason Akermanis do now?
Since leaving the AFL, the Mildura-born athlete moved to Brisbane where he currently works as a real estate agent. And talk about a shake-up!
In April 2022, the ex-footy player told Elite Agent that he’d “started his own shop” with the Blue Moon property group.
“I was always buying and selling and did that for a long time,” he recalled, explaining that real estate felt natural to him.
“Being an auctioneer, I’ve always been comfortable speaking, so I thought I’d give that a go too.”
“I needed to get out of footy … and real estate is more flexible and has more scalability for my growth. So, it was a no-brainer [for me],” he added.

Jason and his wife Megan Akermanis share three beautiful children Zoe, Charlotte and Sienna.
And after doing a lil’ Insta stalk, we found out that they’d recently embarked on a family trip to Japan where they spent some much-needed quality time together.
They explored their way around Kyoto, Tokyo and Mount Fuji and we think our invitation might’ve been lost in the mail!
