Former AFLW superstar Abbey Holmes‘ appearance on SAS Australia 2023 is her THIRD reality TV gig after two stints on Australian Survivor.

Yep, before she was trying to pass Special Forces selection, the 32-year-old rose to reality TV fame in 2019 when she appeared on Australian Survivor: Champions v Contenders, finishing in fifth place overall.

During her time on the show, she quickly made a name for herself as a fan favourite. So, in 2020, she returned to Survivor for its All-Stars season.

Given she was such a strong player the first time around, Abbey entered the competition with a target on her back. Sadly, this meant she became was sixth all-star to be booted.

With “unfinished business” as a castaway, Abbey told MediaWeek that she’d jump at the chance to appear on Survivor again.

However, we’d say she hasn’t really had the time, thanks to her flourishing media career!

What has Abbey Holmes been up to since Australian Survivor 2020?

In the years since appearing on Australian Survivor, Abbey has launched a clothing label named after the show’s most common buzzword: Blindside!

The label specialises in loungewear, including cosy tracksuit sets, comfy shorts and tees.

The South Australian, alongside her footballer fiancé Keegan Brooskby, also runs an Instagram account called “Backyard Bandits”.

On the page, the couple shares glorious snaps from their travels around Australia, prompting other Aussies to venture out to the sights in “our own backyard”.

The couple first got together in 2018 after meeting on a dating app and are expected to tie the knot towards the end of 2023.

Having kicked off her career in the football community, Abbey is now a well-respected AFL commentator with 7Sports and Triple M Footy.

Abbey’s rise to football stardom started during her time in the Northern Territory Football League, where she famously became the first woman to kick 100 goals in a single season.

As a famed forward and midfielder, she was eventually recruited by the Adelaide Crows ahead of the inaugural AFWL season in 2017.

That same year, Abbey lead the Crows to AFLW premiership victory, which the team backed up in 2019 and 2022, respectively.

She wrapped up her career in the league at the conclusion of the 2018 season.

As of 2023, Abbey is playing in the women’s Victorian Football League (VFL) for Box Hill Hawks.
