Hunted Australia is officially back for Season Two, which means it’s time for fans to get reacquainted with everything you need to know about the addictive cat-and-mouse series.
Yep, get ready to run because a brand new season of Hunted has returned after raking in record ratings in 2022.
And, if the teaser trailer is anything to go by, expect “smarter” and “faster” contestants than ever before.
What is Hunted Australia about?
In a high-stakes, adult version of hide-n-seek, ordinary Aussies become “Fugitives” on the run in the real world and must stay undetected by the “Hunters”.
They are given limited funds and must stay under the radar for 21 days.
It may sound easy, but the Hunters are a team comprised of some of the world’s best investigators. Think former members of the Australian Federal Police, Australian Defence Force, and British Intelligence, just to name a few.
Who is on Hunted Australia Season Two?
While the Fugitives are a fresh batch of competitors, rest assured there will be some friendly faces.
Hunted Chief Dr David Craig, Deputy Intelligence Ben Owen and Deputy Operations Reece Dewar are all returning for Season Two.
In addition, Senior Principal Analyst Leigha Fraser will join the already formidable crew.
How real is Hunted Australia?
According to Hunted‘s executive producer Tim Ali, the show is “100% real“.
“Hunted replicates the powers of the state,” Tim told The Latch, explaining that the Hunters treat the game the same way they’d treat a real-life scenario.
“They make all the decisions and strategy calls and we facilitate to make sure it plays out exactly as it would in the real world,” he said.
Tim also expressed that the “accuracy of replicating real-world scenarios is of key importance.” And to maintain the show’s authenticity, the production crew had a “fantastic police referee monitoring the entire time”.
“He guides us on real-world protocols and timings, so we are precise on the moves the HQ team and Ground Hunters make,” Tim dished.
So there you have it. The show is “real”! Well, if you factor out the GPS trackers and producer plants...
Where is Hunted Australia 2023 filmed?
Just like its inaugural season, Hunted Australia 2023 was filmed entirely in Melbourne and greater regional Victoria.
And just in the trailer alone, you can already see Melbourne skyline shots, plus a key focus on Docklands and the Melbourne Star Ferris wheel — but where will they hide?!
What do the Fugitives win on Hunted Australia?
If they stay hidden long enough to avoid being surveilled and captured by the Hunters, the Fugitives will have one final challenge: get to the final extraction point.
If they arrive undetected, they will win a share of $100,000 prize money.
The Fugitives aren’t the only people with a chance to nab some cash, however.
People who provided the Hunters with tips that ultimately lead to the capture of the runaways were awarded “significant cash rewards”.
When does Hunted Australia 2023 start?
Hunted Australia 2023 begins on Monday, July 17 at 7:30 pm on Channel 10 and 10play.
