Channel Nine’s hot new adventure show The Summit is about to grace our screens, but what exactly is it all about?
Hosted by Australian actor Jai Courtney, the new show will follow 14 strangers on their mission to reach the peak of a mountain in New Zealand’s South Island.
The contestants, who have $1 million split between their backpacks, will have to work together amid dangerous weather and rugged terrain to reach the top of the mountain.
But there’s a catch. The trekkers will have to reach the summit within 14 days to take home the money on their backs. Oh, and did we mention the show airs on May 14? It seems like 14 is a running theme here…
What drama can we expect from The Summit?
There’ll be no shortage of drama on The Summit, so expect to see lying, cheating and betrayal as these 14 strangers fight natural forces to win the eye-watering cash prize.
Along their journey, the contestants will work together to overcome the challenges that’ll halt them on their way to the summit. We’re talking extreme weather, fatigue and DRAMA!
This journey isn’t for the faint-hearted, so if any of the trekkers get left behind, the cash gets left with them.
And if they don’t make it to the summit in time, they’ll end up losing it all, so it’s important for the contestants to work as a team. But, like we’ve seen in many reality shows, trying to get any group of strangers to get along is a chore. So good luck to them!
Like all great TV shows, there will be some twists and turns along the way. The morality of the trekkers will be tested, as they’ll have the opportunity to cut off the weaker players to add more money to the prize fund.
Will the group play with their hearts at the risk of slowing down? Or will they betray the weak in an attempt to win as much cash as they can?
Who is joining the cast on The Summit?
This season, a crop of interesting personalities will be tackling The Summit.
From AFL players and dance teachers to outback nurses and sock designers, you’ll never know what to expect from this quirky bunch.
We hope producers have cast just the right mix of crazy for maximum chaos…
What do the cast win?
Initially, there will be $1 million in the prize pot which’ll be equally divided among the 14 contestants. However, if one of the trekkers gets left behind, so does the cash in their backpack, reducing the prize money.
If the group fails to reach the summit in 14 days, they’ll lose all of the money.
However, the contestants will get the opportunity to steal money from the weak, adding it to the prize fund for the rest of their cast mates. And if it were up to us, we’d be stealing it all!
