Channel 7 has announced that a “ground-breaking” new game show called Million Dollar Island is set to grace our screens, and this one sounds juicy!

In this “revolutionary social experiment“, 100 Aussies will attempt to live on a remote island for the chance to win $1 million.

However, there’s a savage twist.

To win the eye-watering wad of cash, contestants have to take it from someone else and they must be willing to do whatever it takes. For $1 million, we’d do just about anything, so GAME ON!

The show’s trailer teased that “rules of society don’t exist,” so expect lying, stealing and all the drama we so love and crave!

Painters, farmers, parents, fashion designers and retail workers will put themselves up for the challenge as they “scheme and fight” for their chance to win the prize.

But where will they draw the line? Will they lose their morality in their fight to win, or will humanity take over?

Million Dollar Island will be hosted by familiar face Ant Middleton, who will guide the participants as they do whatever it takes to come out on top.

Million Dollar Island is a must-see event on television,” Ant said in a statement last year.

“Think The Hunger Games meets Lost… but not quite as brutal.

“This is a high-stakes challenge for regular, everyday Aussies,” he added. Ooooh. Sounds like we’ll be tuning in for this one!

How Does Million Dollar Island Australia Work?

Each contestant starts the adventure with a wristband worth $10,000. While they are on the island, contestants can gain and lose wristbands by competing in various games.

They can also receive wristbands from other contestants. When someone gives up and decides to leave the island, they must give their wristband(s) to a contestant who stays behind.

Just like Survivor Australia and Big Brother Australia, alliances mean everything with friendships, literally, being worth a fortune.

Some contestants will become richer by winning games and inheriting wristbands, while those who lose and fail to collect new wristbands must eventually go home.

In the end, a nail-biting final game helps determine who walks away with a “life-changing prize”.

Million Dollar Island is coming soon to Channel 7 and 7plus.
