Revolutionary social experiment Million Dollar Island Australia is coming and it’s being hosted by a VERY famous face from SAS Australia.

Best known as the Chief Instructor on SAS, Ant Middleton will host the series — and frankly, this sounds like it’s going to be gooood!

The show, which originated in the Netherlands, is being created by the team behind The Voice and Big Brother Australia.

Currently, it’s in its casting phase, and will pit 100 ordinary people against each other, with the hopes of trying to remain in the game on a remote island.

There’s some YUGE prize money up for grabs, with the winner pocketing $1 million. This is the largest prize money pool to ever be up for grabs on Australian TV! Hooley dooley!

“Million Dollar Island is a must-see event on television,” Ant said in a statement. “Think The Hunger Games meets Lost… but not quite as brutal.

“This is a high-stakes challenge for regular, everyday Aussies. Literally, anyone can apply,” he added.

“You don’t have to be the fittest or the strongest person to win big. Emotional intelligence and self-belief are key here. I can’t wait to see what the Aussie contestants have got, how well they know themselves and how far they’ll go to change their lives.”

How Does Million Dollar Island Australia Work?

Each contestant starts the adventure with a wristband worth $10,000. While they are on the island, contestants can gain and lose wristbands by competing in various games.

They can also receive wristbands from other contestants. When someone gives up and decides to leave the island, they must give their wristband(s) to a contestant who stays behind.

Just like Survivor Australia and Big Brother Australia, alliances mean everything with friendships, literally, being worth a fortune.

Some contestants will become richer by winning games and inheriting wristbands, while those who lose and fail to collect new wristbands must eventually go home.

In the end, a nail-biting final game helps determine who walks away with a “life-changing prize”.

Sounds epic to us!
