MasterChef Australia judge Jock Zonfrillo posted a chilling photo to Instagram just hours before his death.

The 46-year-old passed away in Melbourne on May 1, the same day the new season of MasterChef was set to air.

On April 30, the chef posted a photo of Jamie Oliver to Instagram with the caption: “The time has come for @masterchefau to kick off a new season filled with Secrets & Surprises! And @jamieoliver of course!”

Before finding out about his co-star’s death, Jamie reposted the same photo, writing: “So soon to the big day this year’s MasterChef is going to blow you away.”

Jock’s family shared a statement to Instagram confirming his death

Jock’s family shared a statement to Instagram on May 1 confirming the restaurateur’s death.

“With completely shattered hearts and without knowing how we can possibly move through life without him. We are devastated to share that Jock passed away yesterday,” his family said in a statement. 

“So many words can describe him, so many stories can be told, but at this time we’re too overwhelmed to put them into words.

“For those who crossed his path, became his mate, or were lucky enough to be his family, keep this proud Scot in your hearts when you have your next whisky.

“We implore you to please let us grieve privately as we find a way to navigate through this and find space on the other side to celebrate our irreplaceable husband, father, brother, son and friend.”

Jock is survived by his third wife, Lauren Fried, and his four children: Ava and Sophia, Alfie and Isla.

Police issue a statement after Jock Zonfrillo’s death

A Victoria Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia they discovered Jock’s body “at about 2 am on May 1 after they were called to an address on Lygon Street in Carlton for a welfare check”.

His death is not being treated as suspicious. 

Jock has long suffered from obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety and addiction.
