Married at First Sight Australia 2023‘s Janelle Han has spilled the beans about a bizarre “test” contestants must undertake before filming the show.

The 28-year-old, who has only continued to mount popularity since the series wrapped, told Yahoo! Lifestyle of the examination at their “All-Star MAFS Reunion”.

She explained that following a sexual health check-up, she was required to do a “duck walk” to test her physicality.

“When I went to do the STI test they were like, ‘Can you do a duck walk?’,” she recalled. “I was like, ‘What do you mean?’.

“You had to squat on the floor and waddle.”

The duck walk test is also known as the Childress test and is used to examine flexibility, balance and agility. It also assesses joint, muscle and bone health.

The Married at First Sight ‘sniff’ test

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Married at First Sight participants undergoing bizarre tests at the hands of the experiment.

In 2019, former expert Trisha Stafford told A Current Affair that they enact a “sniff test” after choosing their couples.

“[The participants] sniff T-shirts,” she told the watchdog program at the time. “They get sent a T-shirt out and they have to put it in a snap lock bag every night and wear it to bed and no deodorants, no spicy foods.

“They do that for a week and then they send it in and they smell each other’s T-shirts.”

ACA reporter Reid Butler dubbed the act “really, really gross” and ya-huh, we agree!
