A second Married at First Sight Australia 2023 groom was almost cast as The Bachelor and he totally would have been perfect for the role.

So Dramatic! previously revealed that gaslighting pro-Harrison Boon was originally cast on the popular dating show. Wild choice, we know!

But it turns out everyone’s favourite groom Duncan James was also approached for the lead role and we can totally see why.

As revealed in episode 265 of the So Dramatic Podcast! Duncan was in the final stages for the 2020 season.

“Duncan has never applied for MAFS before, but he got to the final stages for The Bachelor one year,” an insider dished.

However, the 36-year-old cyber security salesman ended up “pulling out at the eleventh hour because he’d met someone.” Harrison, take note!

The lead role ended up going to none other than Locky Gilbert and who would have thought?

MAFS 2023’s Duncan James pulled out of The Bachelor because he found love IRL

The source explained that Duncan was genuinely going on the show for the ~right reasons~ and so, “when he found someone he connected with IRL, he wanted to pursue that.”

As a result, Duncan told the producers that he’d be lying to himself if he went on The Bachelor after already finding love.

Somebody who’s not just in it for fame? This is literally unheard of in the reality TV world.

Sadly, the pair broke it off after ten months of dating. However, Duncan didn’t regret turning it down because he felt like his connection could’ve been something amazing.

If this isn’t proof that Duncan is a stand-up guy, we don’t know what is!
