My Mum Your Dad Australia 2022‘s Mel Gousteris shut down an anti-LGBTQIA+ customer in the most iconic way and damn, Sam Gousteris really hit the jackpot in the mum department!
During the Australia-first reality show, the unlucky-in-love mum and her 21-year-old son were candid about Sam’s experience of growing up as a young gay, Greek man.
Now, Sam has taken to the gram to share the epic story of how his mum had his back once again, and the reenactment is GOLD!
“I love my MUM,” he captioned the Instagram reel. “I wish all parents were as loving and accepting as she is.”
In the clip, Mel sat on a couch, recalling a woman who recently entered the boutique where she works.
“She was going on about God… and then she said, ‘Oh, you know, I’m just sick of it, all this that’s going on, gay Pride and gay march and blah, blah blah’.”
Mel said the woman suggested there should be a “march for the Christians and for the orthodox”.
The protective mum quickly responded: “If you’re a good Christian and orthodox, you accept people for who they are.
“No matter what religion or what they believe or whatever.”
However, the customer doubled down, expressing again that she was “sick of” Pride festivities.
“‘Gay this, gay that’,” Mel recalled the woman’s sentiments. “[Then] I said, ‘My son’s gay’.
“She goes, ‘Oh, I’m sorry’, [and] I go, ‘I’m not, now get out of the shop’.” Go off, QUEEN!

Family, friends and followers flocked to the comment section to rally around Mel and Sam after the unfortunate encounter.
Several empathised with the My Mum Your Dad duo, with some sharing similar experiences.
“My son is gay too and I will say they are the most nicest [sic] happiest and genuine beautiful souls I have ever met,” one follower wrote. “Well said Mel.”
“You’re such a wonderful lady,” another penned, meanwhile a third said: “Brilliant response.”
A fourth fan expressed that it costs nothing to be kind.
“Regardless of whether we agree with the way people live their lives or not… who are we to judge … kindness is free and it’s deserved by everyone!”
