Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains 2023‘s Shonee Bowtell has confessed that this year’s contestants “suffered” far more than the final edit has let on.
Appearing on the Two Girls One Pod podcast, the 30-year-old — who previously starred on Champions v Contenders 2018 and All Stars 2020 — dished all about the eighth season.
Given Shonee is Australia’s first-ever three-time competitor, we just KNOW she’s been through some punishing AF situations, and we’re all ears.
Chatting with hosts Angie Kent and Yvie Jones, the Survivor icon confessed they “suffered so much more than what has been shown”.
The shocked hosts prompted Shonee to spill more before it was revealed the Samoa weather was not in her favour.
“It just rained, rained, rained, rained,” she explained.
However, that wasn’t the worst of it.
The Noosa-based reality star said there were times when the tribes rarely ate during filming.
“So, literally, I think over seven days… we had two meals,” Shonee said. “But yeah, like, when do you get to starve yourself like that and really put yourself to the test?”
Where do Australian Survivor contestants go to the toilet?
Yvie then slid in with a hard-hitting question for Shonee: “Can I ask you straight up; where do you poo?”
She explained that there’s a “long drop” facility for Survivor contestants to do their business.
“[It] is a hole in the floor, the hole in the ground,” she clarified. “And then it has like a little wooden box.”
Yvie then said the long drop was what she and Angie “had as well” when they appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia in 2019.
However, they did admit they thought Survivor‘s toilet scenario would be more barbaric.
“I thought maybe you’d have to actually go and find a leaf and find spots [to go to the toilet],” Yvie confessed.
“Yeah, like dig holes,” Angie added.
However, Shonee was hesitant to answer whether the Survivor peeps were provided with toilet paper.
“I don’t know if I’m allowed to answer that…”
