The Challenge Australia 2022’s Megan Marx has shared news of her diagnosis with a rare and “degenerative” neurological disorder.
The 32-year-old took to social media to explain that she has been diagnosed with “spinocerebellar ataxia”.
It is a rare, inherited neurological condition that can impact mobility, balance and coordination over time.

“[After] months of waiting for gene test results, I met with the neurologist,” Megan said.
She added: “Sh*t news. Diagnosis. Some tears as Keith [Newman] took over the conversation.”
The Bachelor Australia’s Megan Marx shares how she feels about her rare diagnosis
Megan explained that she was “grateful” for her body’s current mobility as is able to continue many of her current hobbies.
“All the yays for lovemaking, skinny dipping, hiking, painting, food-ing, bad dancing and awful conversations at bars,” she said.

“Actually feeling grateful altogether. Many have worse diagnoses. Just some processing to do.”
Megan claimed she had “lots of living to do” before the “neurological degeneration attempts to take some of me from me”.
The Bachelor Australia alum opened up about delaying seeking a diagnosis.
“I kept putting off testing too. Not sure if it’s that beneficial knowing since it can’t be treated,” she said.
“My Pop suffered pretty bad with it (couldn’t swallow properly, walk or talk properly), so hard staring down the lens of that.”
