Married at First Sight Australia 2022’s Daniel Holmes refused to leave his fatphobic opinions in 2022 because, apparently, we’ll never be free from the reality tv star-turned-conspiracy theorist spouting absolute bullsh*t.

ICYMI: The 31-year-old took to Instagram in December 2022 to call out a size-inclusive Nike activewear display from 2019, claiming a mannequin promoted an “early death”.

The former personal trainer has stumbled across yet another completely outdated conversation about size inclusivity, this time setting his sights on a Calvin Klein campaign from four years ago.

The campaign featured plus-size POC rapper Chika, which Daniel reshared it alongside a Calvin Klein ad featuring a straight-sized model from 1999.

“This is called ideological subversion,” Daniel claimed. Yeah, it doesn’t make any sense to us either.

Married at First Sight’s Daniel Holmes responds with more fatphobic claims and word-salad for us to decode

In an attempt to clear up what he meant by “ideological subversion”, So Dramatic! reached out to Daniel for comment. We got one… A comment, that is. An actual explanation? Uhm, not so much.

“The reality is a huge portion of humans living in the first world are obese. There’s pressure on businesses and financial gain for food companies to normalise obesity,” Daniel responded. Sources and receipts pls?

Despite not backing any of his claims up, he continued, “As much as there’s backlash for voicing this, it needs to be pointed out, being obese is deadly!

“It shouldn’t be normalised, there are serious health concerns related to it and there’s very wealthy companies that benefit financially from keeping this ‘acceptance’ narrative [sic].”

Daniel reminded us yet again that he’s worked in “the fitness industry for close to 10 years”. Yeah, we got that part the first time you made outlandish claims with little to no verified research behind you, mate.

“This isn’t a new subject to me but one that I see getting misconstrued and taken in a dangerous direction. In my opinion [sic],” he said.

MAFS 2022’s Daniel Holmes “voices” his concern about a billboard (that doesn’t exist anymore)

The billboard in question display showed plus-size POC rapper Chika wearing Calvin Klein underwear from four years ago. According to the rapper, it was up for two weeks.

The 2019 campaign showed a wide variety of body types. It featured Shawn Mendes, Bella Hadid, A$AP Rocky, Billie Eilish, Noah Centineo, Troye Sivan, Kendall Jenner, Kevin Abstract, Yoo Ah-In and Lil Miquela (a CGI influencer).

It came after years of Calvin Klein using straight-sized models in their campaigns, having only shown a “plus-size” model in a campaign in 2014 (the model was a size 14 and didn’t self-identify as plus-size).

Responding to the fatphobic outrage when the campaign was first released, Chika reminding everybody that she “shouldn’t have to defend [her] existence”.

“Craziest part is that the billboard hasn’t been up for months,” she added. LOL, now YEARS.

“People are literally riling themselves up over a photo from a past advertisement. Lmfao.”

Since this, the brand has used other plus-, mid- and straight-size models and celebrities in various campaigns… Because we can’t stress enough how this billboard was from FOUR YEARS AGO.
