Married at First Sight Australia 2022’s Al Perkins is entering the Love Island Australia 2022 villa as Australia’s first “celebrity” bomb, and it seems like his already overflowing Instagram DMs are about to get a whole lot busier!

After his stint on MAFS earlier this year, the 26-year-old Sydney tradie became a fan-favourite due to his hectic approach to life, emotional (yet lovable) immaturity, and shoey-king status.

However, there’s one thing he wasn’t prepared for; a flurry of messages sent to his inbox that are, ahem… somewhat inappropriate.

Speaking to So Dramatic! before his entry into the villa was aired, Al admitted that while most of the time people “are really nice”, he gets the “odd ones here and there” that are definitely trying to “crack on”.

“They send me some pretty saucy messages,” he admitted. “I’ve got people inviting me to school formals, and I’ve even got nudes being sent to me. It’s nice people are thinking of me.” LOL!

Being the ultimate nice guy that he is, Al tries to respond to all of the DMs (“except the nudes”, he assured us) and has a full-proof system that allows him to do so.

“I’m really bad, but I do copy and paste and send the same message over and over again,” he said. Hey! It’s the thought that counts!

Al Perkins’ Journey on Love Island Australia 2022 Was Intense

While the outcome of his Married at First Sight experience was less than successful, Al revealed that he was in “his element” when inside the Love Island Australia villa.

“It’s a lot more relaxed on Love Island. I think the dinner parties [on MAFS] are quite intense, but I’m in more of my element in the villa — sitting by the pool, being shirtless a lot more, just the good stuff!” he said.

As for his love interests on the show, there was a lot of excitement when Al arrived in Spain. However, he just wanted to be treated like everyone else.

“I wanted the girls in the villa to form a connection with me on who I am then and there, not who I am on television,” he told us.

“When I was on MAFS, I was doing shoeys or whatever, but I’m also like everybody else. I’m just a humble carpenter, and I’m here to have fun. I wanted the girls to see past the MAFS Al.”

Luckily, even though they were excited to see him (“and a little bit shocked”), they definitely warmed up to him and treated him like a “normal bloke”.

Al Perkins Promises Drama and a Good ‘Ol Fashioned Happy Ending

As we’ve already seen on this season of Love Island Australia, there’s drama aplenty and it doesn’t slow down once Al joins the crew.

“There are things that see me being put in uncomfortable positions, where I’m stressing, I’m sweating and we’re all put out of our comfort zones,” he admitted.

But, does Al Goddamn Perkins find love?! That’s all we really want to know!

“I do leave the villa really happy,” he said. “I wouldn’t say it’s like a boyfriend/girlfriend. I feel like I’ve met some people who I’m going to be hanging out with regularly.”

And if we’re reading between the lines, that’s a big fat YES!
