The Block Australia 2022’s Dylan Adams has revealed what nearly ruined his chances to propose to partner Jenny Heath during a Hamilton Island getaway.
The 28-year-old Gold Coast tradie planned to propose after a romantic helicopter ride to Queensland’s Whitehaven Beach in 2021 but didn’t think to check the weather forecast before setting up his elaborate (and heartwarming) plans.
A tropical storm threw a major spanner in the works when he discovered all flights had been grounded. Kinda lucky. Honestly, nobody wants such a turbulent start to their marriage!
“We had a holiday planned, and I was like ‘there’s not many times we’ll go away on such a nice holiday, so that will be the perfect time’. So then I sprung into action and just tried to hold on to the secret,” Dylan told 9Now.
But it appears all was meant to be for the tradie couple, as the storm cleared just in time for their booked flight.
“…But half an hour before we were about to leave, they said, ‘We’re on, get down here, let’s do it!’ It was so lucky,” Dylan recalled.

Good thing, too, as Jenny admitted she had “an inkling” that Dylan was going to propose during their adventure.
“Even though I kind of had a feeling it was coming, you still aren’t actually sure… I was so shocked,” Jenny said.
She added: “We were just on the beach near the helicopter. I was just kind of walking towards the water, and then I turned around, and he got on his knee – it was so cute!”
Dylan and his 25-year-old fiancée are now preparing to get hitched at InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast in March 2023, and we’re sure winning The Block would be a great way to fund their big day!
