The Veronicas Lisa and Jessica Origliasso have revealed that they are embarking on solo careers….we think.

News of the twins’ endeavours came after the band’s official Instagram page was wiped clean of content, with its bio updated to: “Love knows not its own depth, until the hour of separation.”

Now, the bandmates and Celebrity Apprentice Australia 2021 stars have announced that new tunes are coming on September 7 under their new individual stage names.

Taking to Instagram on September 5, Lisa revealed she’s “going solo” as Lisa Veronica, alongside a clip of herself looking dolled up as she sings into an old-school dial-up phone.

Meanwhile, Jessica unveiled her alias as Jessie Veronica A.K.A Jessie333 on her account.

“ARE YOU ON MY TEAM… JESSIE333 dropping September 7th 2022,” she penned beside a video of herself in character as a retro racecar mechanic.

The move follows rumours of a rift between the singers after the pair famously lost contact for 18 months in 2018.

However, it seems the duo-turned-soloists are now capitalising on their once-public feud, thanks to a series of comments on each other’s announcements.

Over on the Jessie333 video, Lisa called her twin her “archnemesis”.

“…Yet my greatest inspiration… this is the ultimate $howdown [sic].”

Jessica, however, hyped her sister up, penning: “Catch me front row in my Lisa Veronica bootleg merch!”

Could all of this just be a publicity stunt?!

What Happened When The Veronicas Went On Hiatus?

The Veronicas first found fame in 2004 and hammered their talent home with several chart-toppers, including 4ever, Hook Me Up, and everyone’s favourite party banger, Untouched.

However, things turned when Jessica rekindled a romance with Aussie actress Ruby Rose in 2016 following a fling in 2008.

The band went on hiatus, with the 18-month-long lull sparking concern that The Veronicas may not get back together.

“After almost 15 years of The Veronicas, there was no discussion, no announcement, it just stopped,” Jessica recalled in the twins’ reality series, Blood Is For Life.

“[Lisa] and I didn’t talk for a year. I was in a relationship that wasn’t good for me. I became isolated. I had nobody anymore; I only had my relationship.”

After Jessica and Ruby called it quits in 2018, the singers rekindled their partnership.

“Twin sisters have a bond that cannot really be explained to anybody else,” Lisa told News.com.au at the time. “We feel it in the deepest parts of who we are, and even in hard times. I guess somewhere we always knew that.”

“But we went through a very difficult time where we weren’t communicating.”
