Over the last four seasons, The Masked Singer Australia has wowed audiences with cool tunes, fab masks and some v cool celebrity winners.

While the excitement comes from fans and judges alike, the magic of The Masked Singer lies beneath the fabulous costumes that house the mystery stars.

Each week, they belt out their favourite tunes with the hope of being crowned the ultimate Masked Singer!

In honour of the brand new 2023 season, we’ve looked back at the past winners of The Masked Singer Australia, and how they managed to wow us with their winning tunes.

CODY SIMPSON “Robot”

Winner of Season One (2019)

As soon as he stepped on stage as the Robot, Cody Simpson wowed the judges and viewers of the show with his strong vocals and smooth dance moves. 

From night one, the now-24-year-old was a shoo-in to win the series and ultimately took out the title. In second and third places were Rob Mills as Wolf and Georgi Coghlan as Monster, respectively.

Guesses from judges Dave Hughes, Dannii Minogue and Lindsay Lohan were varied when it came to predicting who was under the Robot mask, and included names like Matt Corby, Usher and Troye Sivan, despite the cryptic clues pointing towards Cody’s singing career and love of water.

The iYiYi singer has been a heartthrob in the music industry since his early teens, having won several music awards for his music, including the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Australian act.

Cody, a junior state swimming champion, also came back to the pool in 2020 with hopes to compete at the 2021 Olympics.

Despite not making the team, Cody has continued to train alongside former Olympic gold medalist Ian Thorpe as his mentor.

BONNIE ANDERSON “Bushranger”

Winner of Season Two (2020)

In a spectacular grand finale, Bonnie Anderson was revealed to be the winner of The Masked Singer 2020, beating out co-stars Kate Miller-Heidke as The Queen and Eddie Perfect as Frillneck for the title.

Bonnie kept everyone on their toes (and on the edge of their seats) every week with her dulcet tones constantly having everyone guessing (albeit incorrectly) who was under the Bushranger helmet.

Before her reveal, judges Hughesy, Dannii and Urzila Carlson (who replaced Lindsay Lohan after border closures) speculated that Jessica Mauboy could be under the mask, with Bonnie’s name also being thrown in the ring.

No stranger to performing on stage, Bonnie’s stardom came to fruition after she became the first-ever winner of Australia’s Got Talent in 2007 at the age of 12.

Since then, the 26-year-old has toured with British popstar Olly Murs and, more recently, has starred on Neighbours as Bea Nilsson from 2018 to 2021.

Now, Bonnie is expecting her first child with her partner Samuel Morrison! So awesome!

ANASTACIA “Vampire”

Winner of Season Three (2021)

In a first for The Masked Singer Australia, a US SUPERSTAR took out the trophy.

I’m Outta Love singer, Anastacia, beat out Em Rusciano (Dolly) and Axle Whitehead (Mullet) to take out the win.

During the insane finale, the MTV Music award winner sang Paul McCartney’s Live And Let Die, cementing herself as a bonafide legend!

When asked by host Osher Günsberg why she joined The Masked Singer Australia, the performer said: “I was actually asking myself that question when I saw the costume for the first time. I was terrified to be the Vampire.”

At the time, the global pandemic had really taken hold and the singer admitted she missed performing live.

“I miss my job! I really miss singing,” she said. And we missed you, Anastacia!

In 2022, Anastacia announced her I’m Outta Lockdown European tour. LOL!

MELODY THORNTON “Mirrorball”

Winner of Season Four (2022)

International popstar and former Pussycat Dolls member Melody Thornton was unmasked as the 2022 winner.

Having wowed fans as Mirrorball throughout the competition, fans and judges just knew whoever was underneath had to be a singing icon.

And it was!

The American singer took out the title ahead of singer Sheldon Riley as Snapdragon and Hugh Sheridan as Rooster.

In 2023, she’s currently reprising the role of Rachel Marron in the 2023 UK and Ireland musical tour of The Bodyguard.
